Muong Hoa valley trek: Hiking Cat Cat Y Linh Ho Lao Chai San Lao Hang Chai Giang Ta Van villages (2 days)
Travel this overnight Sapa trek, you hike along a hidden trail offering spectacular view over the Trung Chai, Ta Phin and Ma Tra valleys. You trek along hillside, through local hilltribe villages and terraced rice fields; meeting up with the Red Zao and Black H’mong for an interesting discovery of colorful cultures. Spend one night at local home (homestay) also offers the experience of local hospitality. This two-day hiking trip can be organized the whole year around. Landscapes is lively beautiful from May to September thanks to rice and corn farming. Itinerary:
Day 1: Sapa – Cat Cat – Y Linh Ho (L,D)
08.00 am: You will be met up with Lotussia Travel team at your hotel in Sapa. Walk from Sapa to Cat Cat village along a narrow trail for an hour. We walk through fruit gardens and vegetable farms to the southern end of Cat Cat Village.
We continue hiking up and downhill along the Vang stream for over 4 hours. We go through part of Hoang Lien National Park is covered by thick bamboo and rain forest. We pass by several isolated hamlets of the Black H’mong.
We arrive in Y Linh Ho Village in mid afternoon. We will have the opportunity to walk around a bit more to explore the village.
We check into a local house for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai San – Lao Hang Chai – Giang Ta Van – Sapa (B,L)
After breakfast we leave the Y Linh Ho village at about 08.30 am. We follow a large dirt path going uphill to Lao Chai San 2 and Lao Chai San 1 villages of the H’mong. Then we go up and downhill along a narrow dirt trail for about 2 hours. We will hike through Lao Hang Chai and Giang Ta Van Village of the H’mong. We explore this village and then we trek downhill for about 30 minutes to Ta Van Village of the Zay ethnic.

We trek for 2 hours through terraced rice fields, bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai hamlet of the H’mong. There are 5 house-holds in the village. These house are beautifully set amongst the bamboo forrest.
We continue trekking to a waterfall near the rattan bridge and then onto Giang Tu Chai Village of the Red Zao. We walk around the village for half an hour.
We trek downhill to Muong Hoa River and hike up on the other side for about 20 minutes to the motorway. We will be picked up by our vehicle and transferred back to Sapa trek. End.
